In my many playthroughs of Skyrim, I’ve gotten really invested in who my character marries each time. Marriage in Skyrim gives you benefits like your spouse cooking you meals (so you eat to bump up your health in a fight), making money for you (so you can buy all the shiny new armor), and giving you a little romance boost when you sleep in the same bed (so you fight better, I think?). But for me, choosing a spouse who fits my character, whether in personality or fighting style, is what truly matters.
Here are my thoughts on my Skyrim husbands so far, and who I’d recommend depending on whether you want a stable house husband or a warrior who can join you in battle. =)
I’d love to hear who your favorite spouses are in Skyrim too. Thanks for watching!

I ended up marrying Brynjolf (Friendly Brynjolf mod) as I wasn’t too impressed with the standard choices *ahem*
Oh nice choice! He is awesome and definitely attractive haha. That’s a good idea, I should play on PC again sometime and download some mods to find new husband options!
Onmund is my favorite. Also Brelyna and Vorstag.
And Perth, because he has amazing chops. He made me think it would be fun to write a series of one-shot stories about less popular marriage candidates and their spouses (non-Dragonborn original characters).
Those would make great stories! I’d read them haha. I also like Onmund, Vorstag was a follower for awhile but not marriage material for my character. There are so many great characters though!
My character married Onmund. He is like a sweet classmate we might all had in high school, a bit shy, sometimes bullied, and he values family. He isn’t the most powerful fighter, but my character is a mage, so I prefer someone other than warrior – I have accidentally killed Lydia several times. Anyway there’s already a super badass Dragonborn in this family, he is alright as long as he can protect himself.
One more thing I noticed – on his UESP profile, he is labelled as ‘unaggressive’ but ‘willing to do any requested crime’ for you. I guess that’s one more reason to like him.
Oh I know him! He’s great, although I never got to know him as well as you did. That’s funny about Lydia too. I like to play a mage too and have to look out for my warrior followers, they’re always getting in the way of my spells!
