Now that spooky season is here, I’ve been looking for more cozy games with fall vibes. Lucky for me, there are options for any mood I’m in—all cozy, but with different styles depending on whether I want something cute, magical, or even a little haunting. (Vampires can be cozy, okay?)
So whether you’re looking for a witchy farming sim, a gothic mystery, or a spooky adventure, here are some of my favorite cozy fall games to add to your autumn playlist.
Little Witch in the Woods
Perfect for: a cute, magical cottagecore adventure
This pixel art gem has you playing a witch training in magic as you restore a ruined town. There are cats to befriend, ingredients to forage, and potions to brew. I like that this cozy game feels like a farming sim, but with a distinctly witchy twist. I especially love getting to know villagers and decorating my home. If you want something cute and magical for a cozy fall afternoon, this one is hard to resist.
Strange Horticulture
Perfect for: a slow, gothic mystery
If you want a slower-paced puzzle game this season, Strange Horticulture is basically an occult detective game set in a plant shop. As the shopowner, you’ll identify strange plants, decipher clues, talk to suspicious customers, and explore a much darker mystery lurking beneath the surface. Somber music and gloomy rainfall make this game feel just a little gothic, making it perfect for spooky season.
Wylde Flowers
Perfect for: living your secret witch life
Wylde Flowers is a cozy farming game with a magical twist: you’re a witch. I started playing this one last year and fell in love with this idea of leading a dual life as a farmer and a witch. By day, you gather resources, shop in town, work on your farm, and get to know your neighbors. By night, you cast spells, brew potions, and fly around on a broomstick aiding your coven. There’s a magical mystery to solve and romance to be had—with a fully voice cast that makes this world so immersive. If you wish you could live a secret witchy life, Wylde Flowers will make your dreams come true.
Blue Prince
Perfect for: solving puzzles in a creepy mansion
If you’re looking for a brainy puzzle game that’s unlike anything else out there, Blue Prince might be the surprise hit of your season. You play as Simon, heir to a mysterious mansion with an ever-shifting floorplan. Your goal? Find the secret room. You’ll be exploring the mansion, drafting a floorplan, searching for clues, learning your family’s history, and solving lots of puzzles. The game requires creative thinking and plenty of patience—especially since it’s a roguelite that requires multiple runs—but if you have a place to jot down notes, you’ll start making connections in a deliciously satisfying way. If you like haunted mansion vibes, Blue Prince is your game.
Potion Craft
Perfect for: relaxing, witchy crafting
If your ideal fall evening involves a crackling fire, a pile of herbs, and an alchemy table, Potion Craft is for you. You play as an alchemist running your own potion shop, grinding ingredients and mixing them in your cauldron. You can choose recipes or experiment with different combinations to discover new potions, then sell them to the townspeople. Over time, you’ll decorate your shop and grow your own ingredients. The gorgeous art style and tactile experience is surprisingly relaxing—and it’s perfect for anyone who craves a little crafting in a medieval-looking world.
Moonlight Peaks
Perfect for: gothic farming by moonlight
Imagine Stardew Valley, but you’re a vampire. That’s Moonlight Peaks, a cozy farming sim with a twist: you are Dracula’s child. The game will feel familiar to anyone who plays a lot of farming sims, but everything is gothic-themed, right down to your vampiric pals and the coffin you sleep in. There’s also spell-casting and potion-making, and your companion is a sassy hell kitten. The game leans into relationships (and romance!) in the village, making it feel like an immersive life sim rather than just another farming sim. If you enjoy gardening in the moonlight (and the color purple), Moonlight Peaks is made for you.
Spiritfarer
Perfect for: those nights you want something deep
Spiritfarer is a beautiful game that feels a little like playing through a Studio Ghibli movie. You play Stella, a spiritfarer with a ship who ferries people to the afterlife when they die. Part of the game is getting to know your passengers and managing their happiness (with lots of hugs). The other part of the game is collecting resources and upgrading your ship. To make things more interesting, the game includes fetch quests, platforming, and mini-games—all with your trusty cat by your side. (You can even play co-op with one person as the cat!) Just remember: this is a game about life and death, so be prepared for it to emotionally wreck you at times.
Night in the Woods
Perfect for: an autumn story with a little darkness
If you want a cute game with fantastic writing, Night in the Woods is the perfect cozy game to play this fall. You play as Mae, a college dropout coming back to her hometown. Being a little aimless, she gets into plenty of mischief, so expect hilarious antics and dialogue that will make you laugh out loud. That said, falling leaves, cold winds, a ghost sighting, and an eerie mystery make this game surprisingly autumn-coded. There are some deeper themes about what it means to grow up and mature that will appeal to anyone who craves a story that will stick with them for a while.
Graveyard Keeper
Perfect for: spooky season with a dark sense of humor
If you want a fresh way to celebrate spooky season, how about taking care of a medieval graveyard? This feels a little like a farming sim—except instead of crops, you’re managing corpses. That means collecting organs from autopsies while you prepare the bodies for burial. To make things even more twisted, you’ll also be raising the dead and burning witches. But don’t worry—the game is truly cozy, with gardening, crafting, and decorating if that’s more your vibe. In fact, if you have a dark sense of humor, this game is hilarious, and you’re bound to have a good time.
The Cosmic Wheel Sisterhood
Perfect for: witchy tarot art and complex decisions
If you want a dark game with humor and heart, Cosmic Wheel Sisterhood has it all. You play Fortuna, a witch exiled for telling dark fortunes. Lonely, she makes a forbidden pact with an ancient being to create a new set of tarot cards. This means actually arranging icons and images on cards in the game to create a unique deck, which you then use to tell unique fortunes. With fantastic dialogue and memorable decisions, Cosmic Wheel Sisterhood explores deep themes around responsibility, retribution, and revenge. Because I love tarot cards and sisterhood, this is my personal favorite game on the list—a little offbeat, but oh so satisfying.
