It’s March, and for Population GO that means it’s time for the annual Fan Favorite tournament!
Back in the day (like, from 2012 to 2013), I wrote video game news and reviews for the geek website Population GO, and although those writing days are behind me due to not having tons of time and stuff, I’m still a big fan of the site. And March is my favorite time to stalk the site because of Fan Favorite, their annual competition that has everybody voting on their favorite characters from anime, manga, TV, movies, and video games. There’s a definite geek focus here, guys. The staff picks the choices for the bracket, but it’s up to us fans to do the voting and see who is the most popular character of them all!
Here’s the bracket for this year:
There are so many good characters this year, I really don’t know how I’m going to decide should it come down to my personal favorites, like Joel or Ellie from The Last of Us, Bigby Wolf from Fables and The Wolf Among Us, Trevor from GTA V, Sherlock Holmes as played by Benedict Cumberbatch, and Lying Cat from my favorite comic series of all time which is known as Saga.
But the biggest news for me personally is that one of my picks from last year is back! Last year I chose Garrus from Mass Effect 3 and Clementine from The Walking Dead. Surprisingly, Garrus didn’t make it too far, but Clementine was a fighter. She was right up there to the end… but ultimately she lost. Le sigh… But she’s back, guys! I’m so excited, I want to tell you guys to vote for her OR ELSE, but the joy of Fan Favorite is that your votes are anonymous and you should really vote for your personal favorites. Don’t let peer pressure tell you who to pick. Just have fun.
Still, I would be extremely happy to see a video game character win out this year, at least… =)
Each day will have characters to vote on, so cast your votes on Pop GO’s home page here every day in March. Or keep an eye on Pop GO’s Twitter page here to see who’s up every day, check out pages with character descriptions as they’re published, and vote on characters as they enter the ring.
